Business Development Executive (Field and Office based)

Outline of the role

As a Business Development Executive your prime responsibility will be to target prospective customers and work to close opportunities of a corporate size across enterprise. You will seek out, identify and establish relationships with enterprise prospects. You will work to sell direct and demonstrate our software.

Your role will be pivotal in ensuring all new signups are converted into sales, afterwards retained as a client and furthermore developed through networking.

You will also work very closely with the Head of Business preparing reports and dealing with client queries in a professional and efficient manner.

Desired skills and experience

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of a year’s B2B sales experience, preferably gained but not limited to selling software solutions. You will be a confident closer and proactive. You will have excellent communication skills and self-motivation.

You will be “web” and “mobile savvy”, proficient at delivering online demonstrations and keen to progress your career. Previous software or web experience would be advantageous.

The successful candidate can expect a base salary circa £23,000 dependent upon previous experience, with an uncapped first year OTE exceeding £30,000 plus executive benefits.

Job Summary
Providing technical support to our business customers and worldwide consumers.

Must Have Criteria

  • Demonstrable interest in web development technologies, e.g. PHP, HTML, Javascript, CSS, etc.
  • Demonstrable usage of database technologies, e.g. searching and editing database records using MySQL or PhpMyAdmin.
  • Provide professional, quality, intelligent and timely communications via email, phone and face to face.
  • Excellent written English, demonstrated by a suitable qualification.

Ideally, you will have experience in a business-to-business or technical support environment (not essential), have a passion for mobile and online services, and be familiar with a range of technologies.

Job Description
For existing clients you will diagnose their technical enquiries mainly via our support ticketing and telephone, and by providing technical support to new clients you will assist clients to go in the quickest time possible onto the txtNation platform.

Ongoing you will also be responsible for growing and maintaining the company knowledge-base and documentation, providing accurate business critical information, and also liaising with clients and partners to work on high level application forms (training provided) which will result in you having a good understanding of application and regulatory processes.

The ideal candidate would have experience in dealing with businesses and individuals over the phone; providing clear information about technical matters; and show a suitability for problem-solving and proactively taking charge of a problem until it is fully resolved. You would be familiar with a range of software and may even have coded or administered systems yourself.

You will be quick to familiarise yourself with our bespoke admin systems and will be attentive to the way that mobile services operate. Alert to the complexities and anomalies inherent in supplying several core platforms to many clients, you will be open-minded and curious, always striving to improve the way that our support operates. You will relish taking firm control over your role and will be content with learning on-the-job. You will be happy to communicate between various stakeholders including txtNation’s development and sales teams, third-party suppliers, network operators and clients.

You should:

  • be highly computer literate with experience of a wide-range of web and desktop applications, including documents, spreadsheets and databases, and an understanding of mobile communications.
  • excellent attention to detail and literacy being able to proof read existing text, produce public facing documents, website text and press releases without supervision.
  • inspire confidence internally and externally with strong business acumen, gathering high level information from partners and colleagues and transforming this into various public facing formats.
  • be interested in business process re-engineering and root cause analysis.

You should be able to demonstrate your ability to problem-solve, and will have a very good standard of oral and written communications, as well as good numeracy. Flexibility over working hours, including some weekend cover, and previous customer service experience would be beneficial.

Based at our Plymouth headquarters, we require a candidate with a good working knowledge of PHP and Javascript to assist in augmenting our global platform. The ideal candidate would be experienced in using PHP and Javascript in a commercial setting and preferably in relation to the processing of high numbers of concurrent transactions or messages of any kind. However, we would be open to considering candidates with less commercial experience as long as it can be amply demonstrated they he or she possesses a good knowledge of PHP, Javascript and ideally Node.js.
Though not essential, it would be highly beneficial for any candidate to have good working knowledge of other Web standards and technologies, including MySQL, RabbitMQ, Erlang, MongoDB, Riak, Redis, Apache, Chef, Puppet, Linux, HTML5, and JavaScript, among others.

Understanding of providers including Amazon Web Services, Rackspace Cloud, other IaaS solutions and virtualised hosting in general would be a bonus.

However, we would be open to considering candidates with less commercial experience as long as it can be amply demonstrated they he or she possesses a good knowledge of Erlang/OTP functionality and an excellent grasp of Erlang’s benefits and culture.

The candidate would additionally evangelise Erlang within the company and assist in educating less experienced developers in practical Erlang.

Development Opening: Junior System Administrator

We are looking for a Junior System Administrator to assist in maintaining our busy platform. We are an award-winning mobile billing and messaging aggregator, headquartered in Plymouth, England, and if you are a bright, technical and creative individual we want to hear from you.

You will have a broad interest in LAMP, preferably in a commercial setting, and be comfortable identifying and solving technical issues across a range of software and hardware contexts.

You will have an ambition to code standards-compliant PHP and other languages, and will have little trouble extending your skill set to include new technologies such as Node.js, Riak (or other “NoSQL” databases), and configuration management tools such as Puppet and Chef. You will at least have a familiarity with the concepts behind those technologies.

Immediate duties include monitoring and maintaining our existing servers, installing and configuring new software, provisioning new resources, identifying bottlenecks, and creatively and diligently exploring and applying effective solutions.

There may be some out-of-hours and weekend cover work to ensure our platform works 24/7.
