Finance Director

Job Title: Finance Director
Location: Plymouth, Devon, UK

txtNation is seeking a Finance Director to manage its busy accounts team, accounting processes, and to act as a confident financial spokesperson for the business. Reporting directly to the CEO and Managing Director, the candidate will directly assist them and the Board on all strategic and tactical matters relating to financial reporting, budget management, cost benefit analysis, forecasting needs and investment.

Key Purpose of the Job

  • Overall P&L responsibility for the business including monthly and annual accounts, tax audit and returns, budget setting and long term financial strategy.

  • Bank and Investment relationship management.

  • Work with the CEO on the strategic vision including fostering and cultivating relationships on domestic and international levels, as well as assisting in the upkeep, delivery, development and negotiation of contracts.

  • Participate in business development, specifically: fielding prospective and current client high level financial enquiries, assist in identifying new funding opportunities, the drafting of prospective project budgets, and determining cost effectiveness of prospective investment opportunities.

  • Assess the benefits of all prospective contracts and advise the Senior Team on design and implementation matters relating to Finance.

  • To lead the Financial development of the business.

  • Oversee accuracy and timeliness of reports from Greentree accounting system.

  • To own, monitor and report to the Board against targets and objectives.



  • Meet and exceed annual P&L targets for the Business to deliver profitable year on year growth, delivery of the plan i.e. EBITDA growth.

  • Monitor and track industry trends and developments to support the delivery of strategic plans.

  • Full responsibility for client and supplier accounts, dealing with all aspects of billing and revenue assurance and debtor management.

  • Play a key role in any potential new acquisition opportunities, utilising knowledge and expertise to contribute to the opportunity.

  • Develop effective interworking between all areas of the business.

  • Work closely with relevant Board members and all relevant cross functional department teams to lead the production of sound business plans for new initiatives and to help ensure the seamless interface of new solutions with the core business.

  • Comply with all relevant financial regulations and work effectively with worldwide governments and regulators.

  • Manage and develop effective relationships with strategic customers, suppliers, partners, third parties, and internal customers.

  • Manage the development of the Accounts Team’s capabilities and ensure that key skills and expertise are transferred to relevant personnel in line with business plans and developments.

  • Attend relevant Board and Executive Committee meetings and lead the Audit/Finance/Remuneration Committee.

  • Monitor banking activities of the organization and manage banking relationships to ensure compliance with covenant requirements.

  • Ensure adequate cash flow to meet the company’s needs.

  • Oversee the production of monthly reports including general business performance and analysis, reconciliations, as well as financial statements and cash flow projections for use by Senior Management and the Executive Committee.

  • Oversee and assist in the design, implementation, and timely calculations of wage payments and incentives.

  • Oversee the maintenance of the inventory of all fixed assets.


Professional/technical competencies essential to the job:

  • Knowledge of Private Equity ownership, Regulatory requirements in the Telco industry and or Internet industry.

  • Broad Business and Commercial skills and knowledge required to run a successful P&L business.

  • Experience of successfully growing a business in a competitive and challenging environment.

  • Strategic business planning skills.

  • Experience in leading a team and maximising team performance.


Formal Academic Qualifications/Skills – Relevant accounting qualifications essential. Education to degree level preferred.

Length of Experience Required – Minimum 5 years’ at senior management level in a related Finance Director, Financial Controller, or CFO role or similar.
